What is MBTI Saju?

MBTI Saju reads the saju pillars built from your birth date next to MBTI, today's language for personality, on one screen. It pulls the eight characters from the traditional almanac, reads the day master, the five elements, the ten gods and the special stars, and sets that beside your MBTI so you can see where "you according to saju" and "you according to MBTI" overlap and where they part.
A Ziwei Doushu chart, the 144 hexagrams of Tojeong Bigyeol and this year's fortune come with it. Saju and Ziwei Doushu are separate systems with entirely different maths, so you get the same person seen from two angles, side by side.
How the reading works
- Almanac calculation — your birth date (and hour) becomes eight characters: the year, month, day and hour pillars. The solar terms come from real times computed with an ephemeris.
- Day master — the centre of the eight. The character that stands for you, and the basis of your temperament.
- Balance of the five elements — where wood, fire, earth, metal and water lean tells you which way your energy runs.
- The ten gods — wealth, authority, resource, output and peer stars draw the pattern of your relationships and appetites.
- Special stars — the particular currents laid over a chart, such as the traveller star, the peach blossom star and the artist star.
- Ziwei Doushu chart — a separate system with its own maths. Using your lunar birth month and day it seats over a hundred stars in twelve cells, read area by area: the Life palace, the Wealth palace, the Career palace and the rest. It needs a birth time.
- Tojeong Bigyeol, 144 hexagrams — your lunar birthday and age set the upper, middle and lower trigrams, which give the current of the year.
- Year fortune — what this year's stem and branch become for your day master gives the grain of the year.
- The MBTI link — all of the above is rewritten in the language of the four MBTI axes (E/I, S/N, T/F, J/P), so the personality your saju describes can be compared with the MBTI you know yourself by.
An example reading
Someone whose day master is Bright Fire (丙火) is read like the sun at midday — a temperament that shows itself openly. If their elements lean towards fire and wood, they start quickly and speak before they hold back; if the output stars are strong among the ten gods, the urge to make things and show them is large. And if the MBTI they know themselves by is INFP — the gap between a saju that reaches outward and an MBTI that pools inward becomes the story itself. MBTI Saju puts that gap into the reading too.

- What if I do not know my birth time?
- We read the remaining six characters without the hour pillar. Knowing the time only makes it more detailed.
- Do I need to take an MBTI test first?
- No. Pick your MBTI if you know it; if you do not, the saju reading alone still gives you a result.
- How is Ziwei Doushu different from saju?
- The maths is entirely different. Saju builds eight characters from the solar terms; Ziwei Doushu seats stars in twelve cells using the lunar calendar. It is the same person seen from another angle, so the two readings can differ a little.
- Why does Ziwei Doushu need a birth time?
- The Life palace is fixed by your birth month and hour. Without the time there is no way to know which of the twelve cells the chart starts from. The saju reading still works without it.
- The zodiac animal differs between the two screens.
- The two methods bound the year differently. Saju uses the start of spring; Ziwei Doushu uses the lunar New Year. Anyone born in January or February may see a difference, and it is not an error.
- Is my birth date stored?
- Nothing is sent to a server. The calculation happens inside your browser.
- Is this just for fun?
- It follows the frame of the classical texts, but it is built to be a mirror for understanding your own leanings. The decisions that matter are always yours.
