Typing Race

🎮 Play now

Typing Race is a free web typing game that combines typing practice with an animal running race. It starts right in your browser on PC and mobile.

Pick Practice or Race on the first screen.

Practice has four modes: Keys (home row, top row, bottom row, capitals, numbers), Words (five levels), Sentences (proverbs, numbers and symbols) and Stories (short fables like The Tortoise and the Hare). A keyboard on screen lights up the next key and the finger to use. When you finish, you see your WPM, accuracy and time.

Race moves your runner forward with every correct key. You race three animal runners across 12 courses with 5 stages each, 60 stages in all. Later stages bring faster rivals and harder text with sentences, numbers and symbols. Beat the boss of each course in first place to unlock that animal as your runner. Get gold on all 60 stages to see the ending.

Good for — anyone learning to touch type, players who want a higher WPM, and kids who find plain drills boring.

Frequently asked questions

Is Typing Race free? Do I need to install anything?

It is free. You can play to the end without paying, and pressing Play now starts it in the browser. There is nothing to install and no sign-up.

What kinds of typing practice are there?

Four: Keys, Words, Sentences and Stories. Each has several levels, and one button switches between English and Korean.

How is speed measured?

English speed is shown in words per minute (WPM), counting five correct characters as one word. Mistyped characters lower your accuracy.

How many stages does Race have?

There are 60 stages: 12 courses with 5 stages each. Finish in the top 3 to unlock the next stage, and win first place on all 60 to see the ending.

Is it hard?

The first rivals are slow, and stage 1 starts with three-letter words. Rivals get a little faster every stage up to the last one.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. You can type with your phone keyboard. On PC, the on-screen keyboard shows which finger to use.

Is my progress saved?

Medals, best speeds and practice levels are saved in your browser. Open it again on the same device and browser to continue.
