MATCHTOWER
MATCHTOWER is a matchstick stacking game where you build any tower you like, one match at a time, on a 1970s coffee house table.
No set shape, no time limit
Submit when you are done and get your stars
Red velvet booths and orange hanging lamps in an old Korean coffee house. On the table sit a thick white coffee cup, a glass of barley tea, a crystal ashtray and an octagonal tin of matches. Tap the tin to take out one match, then set it down anywhere on the table.
The matches roll, tilt and fall like the real thing. Build a neat log cabin, lay a star inside a square, or lean matches against each other. Pull a match out from the bottom and the ones on top settle down. Nothing ends when it falls: just pick the matches up and build again.
When you are done, press SUBMIT. The camera circles your work once while it is judged, then it scores height, art and creativity with five stars each and adds them up to a maximum of 999 points. A symmetrical piece that uses matches in many directions scores higher than a tall but plain square tower.
The matches and everything on the table are drawn in 3D, and the jazz you hear was composed in code. Your tower is saved in the browser so you can keep building next time.

Frequently asked questions
Does the game end when my tower falls?
No. There is no game over. Pick the fallen matches up and build again; only matches that drop off the table disappear.
How is my work scored?
When you submit, height, art and creativity each get up to five stars, or 333 points, and they are added up. The top score is 999.
Is a tall tower enough for a top score?
No. A tower made of the same square over and over scores low on creativity. Symmetry and matches set in many directions raise art and creativity.
How many matches can I use?
Up to 400 matches on the table.
How tall can I build?
There is no set limit. The height score reaches five stars at 15 cm.
