BUY JEJU is a free open world game in which the youngest son of a rich family buys up land across Jeju Island with the 10 billion won his father gave him. It runs in your browser, nothing to install.
A rich family's youngest son washes out of studying abroad, fixates on Jeju and flies down with the 10 billion won his father handed him as pocket money. His friend rings to laugh at him for picking a backwater. You drive out of the airport in a navy convertible with a cat on the passenger seat, and the whole island opens up: a ring road following the coast, a mid-mountain road above it, and the 1100, 5.16, Pyeonghwa and Beonyeong roads crossing Hallasan. Jeju City and Seogwipo have grid streets with working traffic lights, cars and people on the pavements.
There are 31 plots across the island, using real place names such as Bijarim, Seongsan Ilchulbong, Hamdeok Beach and Sanbangsan. Stop in front of one and a BUY button appears. Paying market price works, but filling 100 billion won that way takes forever. The fast route is the rush listing: the old broker phones you, a ribbon of arrows rolls out along the road, and if you reach the plot before the timer runs out you pay half. Too slow and Tamna Development buys it first — you can buy it back later, at a premium.
On land you own you put up buildings. You start with a small farmhouse and work up through cafés, guest houses, resorts, hypermarkets, luxury hotels and nightclubs; the pricier the ground, the higher the tier it unlocks. Buildings pay rent and rent buys the next plot. Land values climb day by day, and a plot held for a long time can be appraised at up to ten times what you paid. At night the city lights come on and the nightclub starts up. Your girlfriend rides shotgun and the cat walks alongside. When your property is worth 100 billion won, your father calls.

Do I need to install BUY JEJU?
No. Open the link in your browser and it starts. No app, no sign-up.

Yes, completely free. No payments.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Turn the phone sideways. Buttons at the bottom drive the car and you drag the screen to look around. On a PC it is the arrow keys and the mouse.
How do I play?
Arrow keys drive and space is the handbrake. Stop in front of a plot and a BUY button appears at the bottom; on land you already own it becomes BUILD. Press T for the map and F to get out of the car.
Is my progress saved?
Your land, buildings, money and the date are saved in your browser. Open it again on the same device and browser and it picks up where you left off. Nothing is sent to a server.
What is a rush listing?
The old broker phones you about a plot going at half price. Reach it before the timer runs out and you buy it for half the market price. Too slow and Tamna Development takes it instead. Buying everything at market price takes forever, so rush listings are the fast route.
How many plots are there?
31, spread over the whole island. They use real Jeju place names such as Bijarim, Seongsan Ilchulbong and Hamdeok Beach, and each plot allows a different building, from a small farmhouse up to a luxury hotel or a nightclub.
How does it end?
When the current value of the property you own reaches 100 billion won. Cash does not count. Buy land, put a building on it, collect rent, buy more land.
