500 Million Year Button
500 Million Year Button is a free idle browser game where every press of a red button sends you into an empty void for 500 million years and brings you back with money. No download, it starts right in your browser.
A red button sits on a table in a basement room. Press it and you get 1,000,000 won. In that same instant you drop into a blank white space and have to spend 500 million years there alone. When the years are over you are back in the room, and not a second has passed outside. It is the old internet thought experiment, turned into something you can actually press.
In the void, time only moves while you are doing something. You scratch the floor, count, dig up stones and stack them, walk far away, mutter to yourself, and carve stones into human shapes. Do the same thing over and over and you get bored and time drags. Switch between things and the 500 million years fly by. Take your hands off and the year counter nearly stops.
Everything you do leaves a mark. Scratches cover the floor, stone towers rise, statues appear one by one. The marks stay after the years are over, so the next time you press the button your towers and statues are waiting for you. Spend lines and stones on upgrades and your body starts doing the work on its own.
You can also draw. Look closely at the floor and trace a dotted outline with your finger, and your drawing is carved into the void floor exactly as you drew it. Every twelve drawings form a mural, and someone far away draws back.
Walk far enough and you find strange writing carved into the floor, left by someone who came here before you. At first it is only symbols. The more you mutter and learn words, the more letters you can read. There are twelve messages in all.
The button pays more every time. It starts at 1,000,000 won and the 28th press pays 50 billion. Spend it on a studio, a city flat, an apartment, a penthouse, a tower block and finally a private island, and the view outside your window changes with each home. Buy things like fried chicken, a puppy, a car or a trip abroad, and you can recall them inside the void. Recalling a memory clears your boredom and makes time rush forward.

Does time pass while the tab is closed?
