DEV CHICKEN SHOP is a free web game where you slice a raw chicken, fry it, box it and sell it to customers. It runs in your browser with no download.

When a customer walks up, the order appears in a bubble over their head. Put a raw chicken on the board and drag your finger across it, and it is cut where you drew. Tap a piece to drop it into the batter bowl, then stir in circles to coat it. Drag from the bowl to the fryer and the pieces splash into the oil.

When the needle on the bar under the fryer reaches the green zone, a bell rings. Drag the chicken into the box, pour the spicy or soy sauce the order asks for, sprinkle scallions or cheese powder, add pickled radish and cola, then tap the customer to send the box out. They take a bite and give 1 to 5 stars. Undercooked or burnt chicken, the wrong sauce or a missing side all cost stars.

A day starts with 4 customers and by day 12 there are 12. Spicy sauce unlocks on day 3, soy sauce on day 6, scallions on day 8 and cheese powder on day 10. After each day you can spend coins on heat, a second fryer, chairs, a tip jar, the cleaver and hearts. Four and five star orders fill the cleaver gauge, and when it is full one cleaver smash chops a whole chicken into eight pieces. Day 12 ends with THE END.

Here is what the six shop items do. Heat shortens the frying time, and at level three chicken cooks in about two thirds of the time. The fryer splits the one wide fryer into two baskets so you can fry two batches separately. Chairs make customers wait 15 percent longer per level. The tip jar raises the tips you get from 4 stars and up by 30 percent per level. The cleaver cuts the gauge needed for a cleaver smash from six slots down to three, one per level. Hearts let you lose one more customer per level, up to five hearts.

Good for — anyone who likes hands-on cooking games where you slice and fry yourself, anyone who likes growing a small shop bit by bit, and anyone who just enjoys watching chicken turn golden.

Frequently asked questions

How long should I fry the chicken?

Take it out while the needle on the bar under the fryer is in the green zone. A bell rings and an exclamation mark pops up when it is done. Earlier than that it is undercooked, and if you leave it to the end of the brown zone it burns black and smokes.

How many pieces should I cut the chicken into?

There is no fixed number. Small pieces cook fast and big pieces cook slowly, so the more even the pieces, the better they all cook together. Box the whole chicken or the portion comes up short.

What is the cleaver smash?

A 5 star order fills two slots of the cleaver gauge and a 4 star order fills one. When it is full and the cleaver button turns yellow, press it to chop a whole chicken into eight pieces with three blows and drop them straight into the batter bowl. The gauge starts at six slots and buying the cleaver in the shop brings it down to three.

How are the stars decided?

By whether the chicken is cooked right, fully coated and enough in amount. The wrong sauce costs a lot, and each missing or unordered topping, pickled radish or cola costs a little more. Tips start at 4 stars and are bigger the less the customer had to wait.

When do I add pickled radish and cola?

After the chicken is in the box. They will not go into an empty box. The same goes for the sauces, scallions and cheese powder.

What happens if I lose a customer?

When the green bar in front of a customer runs out they leave and you lose a heart. At zero hearts it is GAME OVER, and RETRY starts that day over. Only the customer who came first loses patience at full speed; the ones behind lose it at half speed.

What do I do with a box I got wrong?

Tap the black bin at the end of the sauce row to throw the whole box away and get a new one. Burnt chicken can be dragged from the fryer straight to the black bin.
