Moon Mochi Merge is a free web game where you merge the rice cakes a moon rabbit drops, two of a kind at a time, until they grow into a full moon. It runs in your browser with no download.

Press to pick a spot and let go, and the rice cake the moon rabbit is holding drops. When two of the same cake touch they pop into one cake a step bigger. Two beans make a rice ball, two rice balls make a honey cake, and on through mugwort cake, songpyeon, injeolmi, rainbow cake, strawberry mochi, pumpkin cake and white steamed cake, until two white cakes meet and the full moon rises.

The cakes are round, so they roll and push each other. A small cake stuck between two big ones keeps them apart, so where you drop is everything. When a merged cake touches another of its kind it merges again, and a chain of three shows NICE, five GREAT and seven PERFECT, with the score multiplied up to 5 times.

If the pile rests above the dotted line it is GAME OVER. Before that you have the mallet. Fourteen merges fill the gauge, and pressing the mallet button slams the box so every cake jumps and the beans and rice balls vanish. Your best score and a today score that restarts every day are kept, and each cake you make for the first time fills one of 11 collection slots.

Good for — anyone who likes suika-style merge games, anyone who wants a quick round to beat their own score, and anyone who just enjoys watching squishy rice cakes roll around.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make the full moon?

Merge two white steamed cakes. There are 11 cakes in order: black bean, rice ball, honey cake, mugwort cake, songpyeon, injeolmi, rainbow cake, strawberry mochi, pumpkin cake, white steamed cake and the full moon. Every time two of the same cake touch, they go up one step.

Does the game end the moment a cake crosses the line?

No. A cake has to rest above the line, nearly still, for 2.2 seconds. A cake you just dropped or just merged is not counted for 1.2 seconds, and moving cakes are not counted. When the line flashes red the end is close.

When can I use the mallet?

After 14 merges the gauge at the bottom is full and the mallet button turns yellow. Press it to slam the box: every cake jumps and the beans and rice balls vanish. The gauge then starts again from zero.

Which cakes does the moon rabbit give?

One of five: black bean, rice ball, honey cake, mugwort cake or songpyeon. Smaller cakes come more often. The next cake is shown in the NEXT box at the top. Injeolmi and above can only be made by merging.

How is the score counted?

Bigger cakes score more. A rice ball is 3 points, songpyeon 15, a white steamed cake 55 and the full moon 66. Merges within one second of each other form a chain: the second is doubled, and from the fifth on they count 5 times.

What happens when two full moons merge?

Both shine and disappear and you get 300 points, also multiplied if you are in a chain. The box empties and you have room to build again.

What is the today score?

Your highest score of the day. It starts again from zero when the date changes. The best score stays regardless of the date.
