Surf Run
Surf Run is a free 3D surfing endless runner where Hella rides a surfboard down three ocean lanes and chases a high score. No download, it starts right in your browser.
It is late afternoon at sea. An island coast slides by on the right and two rows of orange buoys mark the lanes ahead. Hella rides one of the three lanes between them. Swipe left or right to change lanes, swipe up to jump and swipe down to duck dive under the water. On PC use the arrow keys, WASD or the space bar.
Three kinds of things come at you. Buoys, floating logs and buoy ropes stretched across the lanes have to be jumped. Low-flying gulls, fishing nets, wooden piers and breaking whitewater have to be ducked under. Rocks, sailboats and jet skis racing toward you have to be dodged by changing lanes.
Hit something small once and Hella wobbles while a shark fin starts chasing her. Hit anything again within 3.5 seconds, or hit a rock, a boat or a jet ski, and the run is over.
Gold coins float in lines on the water. There are three power-ups. The dolphin makes you faster for 7 seconds and smashes everything in your way, the magnet pulls in coins for 10 seconds, and the glowing board blocks one hit.
Your score is the distance you surfed times your multiplier, plus your coins. Three missions are always active, and each one you finish raises the multiplier by one for good. Two players who surf the same distance can end up with very different scores.
| Mission examples | Goal |
|---|---|
| Coins | 50 / 150 / 300 |
| Jumps | 10 / 25 |
| Duck dives | 8 / 20 |
| Distance | 500m / 1200m / 2500m / 4000m |
| Jump over obstacles | 5 / 15 |

Coins carry over between runs. In the shop you can buy six board colors, six outfit colors for Hella, and a start shield and start magnet that kick in at the beginning of a run.
| Shop | Coins |
|---|---|
| Boards: coral, mint, navy, black, gold | 300, 500, 800, 1,200, 2,500 |

You start at about 60 km/h and reach 120 km/h at around 1 km. Past 300 m, 800 m and 1,600 m new obstacles show up and they come closer together. There is no ending. Every run starts from the beginning and you try to beat your best score.

Frequently asked questions
Does Surf Run have an ending?
No. The ocean lanes go on forever and you surf until you wipe out. Each run is about beating your best score.
How is the score calculated?
Distance in meters times your multiplier, plus the coins you picked up. The multiplier starts at x1, goes up by one for every mission you finish, and never goes back down.
Is one hit the end of the run?
Small things like buoys, gulls and nets take one hit. A shark then starts chasing you, and a second hit within 3.5 seconds ends the run. Rocks, sailboats and jet skis end it right away, unless you have the glowing board to block one hit.
What are coins for?
In the shop you buy board colors, outfit colors for Hella and start items (start shield and start magnet). If you buy several start items, one of each is used automatically at the start of each run.
Does it get harder?
Yes. Your speed climbs from about 60 km/h to 120 km/h, and past 300 m, 800 m and 1,600 m more kinds of obstacles appear with less space between them.
