NIGHT STUDY
NIGHT STUDY is a free first-person horror escape game. You dozed off at your desk during evening study hall. When you open your eyes, the school is empty. Six exam papers are scattered through the building, and you have to gather them and get out through the front door on the first floor — but something in a white gown is walking the halls.
The school is a real 3D building: four classrooms along the north corridor, a science room, a music room and a library in the middle, and the staff room, front hall and art room to the south. Papers and spare batteries lie in the rooms. The front door stays locked until you have all six papers.
Your flashlight lets you see down the corridors, but it burns battery and the ghost notices its light from twice as far away. Walk in the dark when you can. If she spots you, run — running drains your breath, so duck into a locker before it runs out. If she saw you go in, she will come and check.
Three difficulties change how fast she moves, how far she sees and hears, and how long she keeps hunting once she loses you. Escape without ever turning the flashlight on and the ending screen says so.
October 22 update
The game no longer ends after one night. It now runs for ten nights. When you escape through the front door, a Next night button appears and the following night starts right away. If the ghost catches you, you replay that same night. Your progress is saved in the browser, so next time you come back you pick up on the night you reached. The clock at the top of the screen now shows which night it is.
Each night is harder than the last. The papers you need go up from 6 to 10, and the spare batteries lying around go down from 3 to 1. The ghost gets a little faster every night, sees farther, hears quieter footsteps, and keeps searching longer after she loses you. She is still slower than you at a full run, so you can lose her as long as your breath holds out.
On later nights the papers fade into the dark. On night 1 they give off a soft glow and you can find them without the flashlight, but that glow gets weaker each night. Shine your flashlight on a paper and it shows up bright white again, so deciding when to turn the light on and how to save battery now really matters. The light still makes the ghost notice you from twice as far away.
Escape on night 10 to see the ending.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to install NIGHT STUDY?
No. Open the link in your browser and it starts. No app to install, no account to create.
Is NIGHT STUDY free?
Yes, completely free. There are no payments.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Turn your phone to landscape. A stick in the bottom-left corner moves you (push it all the way to run), swiping the screen looks around, and the LIGHT and TAKE buttons sit on the right. Shadows are off by default on phones to keep it smooth.
What are the controls?
On PC: arrow keys to walk, W A S D or the mouse to look, Shift to run, F for the flashlight, E to pick up papers or hide in a locker, Esc to pause. Running uses your breath, and the flashlight drains its battery and makes the ghost spot you from twice as far. Batteries lying around recharge it.
Is my progress saved?
No. Each run is short and starts fresh from the classroom, so there is nothing to save. Nothing is sent to a server.
