Grandfather Frost
Grandfather Frost is a 3D adventure game where a boy in a Belarusian village earns coins in the forest and the lake to free an old man frozen in ice. It runs in your browser with nothing to install.
A boy from an old apartment block on the edge of Minsk takes the dawn bus on the first day of summer break to his grandmother's village. There he hears that an old man asleep in the ice beyond the lake grants one wish. The boy already knows what he will wish for.
The work begins in the forest. Twelve kinds of mushrooms grow in the birch wood, the pine wood and the old-growth forest. Fill your basket and sell them to Uncle Fyodor for coins. Take them to Grandma and she cooks them into soup or a roast, and a cooked dish sells for twice the price of the mushrooms.

With coins you shop at Yanka's stall: a big basket, rubber boots, sneakers, a fish spear and a hunting rifle. With the spear you dive into the lake and catch twelve kinds of fish. Feed a forest bison rye three times and it becomes your friend; climb on, hold on while it bucks, and you can ride it. Bring a tamed bison to Mikhas and he rewards you.

The forest is dangerous. A wild boar charges on sight, and if it hits you the run is over. A viper in the grass lifts its head and hisses before it strikes, so back away when you hear it. Rubber boots let you survive a bite and kick the snake away. Buy the rifle and you can hunt boar: aim, shoot, then carry the boar on your shoulders to sell it. Nothing in the village pays more. You can also climb the watchtower and shoot the boar passing below.

The village has Grandma, Uncle Fyodor who buys your goods, Yanka who runs the shop, Alesya with her flower wreath, and Mikhas who loves bison. Each of them says something different when you come close and tells you what to try next. Every time you pull something off, Alesya warms to you a little more.
At 10,000 coins you can swim out to the lake island. A statue of Princess Dryva stands there. Solve the statue and a torch appears, and a bridge rises to the far shore. At the end of it stands the old man frozen in ice. Melt the ice with the torch and the story moves to its end.
